Help with a previous tune

Good numbers. Disappointing ride?

If your Harley hesitates, surges, or feels flat after being tuned elsewhere, bring us your concerns. Tell us when it happens, what has been changed, and which tuning system is currently on the bike. We’ll discuss compatibility and the next steps with you.

Peak horsepower is only part of the picture. A bike can show a lower peak number on a different dyno chart and still feel stronger and smoother on the road. Throttle response and power delivery through the RPM range matter, too.

Compare horsepower and torque at the same engine speed. Solid lines show horsepower; dashed lines show torque. The curve shapes show where output changes through the run. Peak figures alone don’t tell you how a bike responds on the road.

Dyno Tuning FAQs

What tuning system do you use?

We tune exclusively with TechnoResearch, using direct ECU tuning on supported bikes. Send us your year, model, modifications, and any existing tuner so we can confirm compatibility before you bring it in.

Does a higher dyno number always mean a better tune?

No. Different dynos and test conditions can produce different readings, so charts from separate shops are not a direct comparison. Peak output also leaves out throttle response and how power is delivered through the rev range. Our focus is how your Harley performs where you actually ride it.

What does tuning cost?

Dyno tuning starts at $650. Tell the shop about your bike and modifications to discuss your quote.

How long should I allow?

Plan for a minimum of three days. Your bike and the work required can mean a longer turnaround.

Can you tune my trike?

Dyno tuning is available for Harley-Davidson trikes. Send your year and model with your inquiry.

Can I ship my bike?

Out-of-state riders ship bikes to Frosty’s. Contact the shop to discuss arrangements before shipping.

Considering engine work?

Looking for more than a tune?

If your plans include internal engine upgrades or a full performance rebuild, discuss the build with Frosty’s before deciding on tuning alone.

More about dyno tuning

What exactly is dyno tuning for motorcycles?

Dyno tuning is a process where we use a dynamometer to measure your motorcycle’s engine performance. We then adjust the air/fuel mixture, ignition timing, and other parameters to optimize your bike’s performance for power, efficiency, and smoothness.

How often should I get my motorcycle dyno tuned?

We recommend dyno tuning whenever you’ve made significant modifications to your engine, exhaust, or air intake systems. Otherwise, a check-up every couple of years can ensure you’re still running at peak performance.

Can dyno tuning improve my bike's fuel efficiency?

Yes, one of the benefits of dyno tuning is improved fuel efficiency. By optimizing the air/fuel mixture and ignition timing, your engine can burn fuel more efficiently, potentially saving you money at the pump.

Do you dyno tune Harley-Davidson trikes?

Yes. Frosty’s Dyno now offers dyno tuning for Harley-Davidson trikes, including popular models like the Tri Glide and Freewheeler.
